Why does media literacy matter?

Media literacy matters because it empowers people to think critically about the information they encounter every day. In today’s digital world, it’s really easy to fall into echo chambers or believe misleading information. Without media literacy, people may be unknowingly spreading misinformation which can have serious consequences. Media literacy gives people the ability to detect bias and stay informed.
