6 tips to spot bias and evaluate media:

1
Multiple perspectives
Check to make sure the source contains information from multiple perspectives. Sometimes, there is bias when an author cherry-picks which people to interview.
2
Use of data
If the source provides lot’s of data, it is probably more credible. Those with just opinion and no data, usually contain more bias.
3
Headline framing
Check to see if the story is purposely using specific words to attract attention. Does it exaggerate and use certain words?

4
Emotional Appeals
If there is a lot of exaggeration within the text, it is probably trying to sway you one way or another.
5
Credibility of news source/author
Check the credibility of the source. Is it a news source known for being very far right/left, or does it tend to be near the middle?
6
Context
See if the media provides context without bias. Does it give background information so the reader can make an informed decision by themselves?
